Ourbid’sorganisingcommitteehasthefullbackingoftheRussiangovernment.Weguarantee:itwillbeaprioritynationalproject.Wearegoingtobuildamassivestate-of-the-artcomplexwiththecapacitytohost30millionvisitorsoverthecourseoftheevent.Weplantoallocateallthenecessaryfundingforitsconstruction.

Iamconfident:weshallwelcomeguestsfrom150nationsoftheworldwithprideanddignity.

TodayIwouldliketothankallthosewhoplacedsuchgreattrustinmebyelectingmetothepostofheadofRussianstateandallthosewho,throughtheirwork,madetheircontributiontotheresultsourcountryhasachievedovertheselastfouryears.

Asduringthepreviousyears,Iwillworkactively,openlyandhonestlyandwilldoallIcan,allthatiswithinmypowertojustifythehopesthatmillionsofpeoplehaveplacedinme.***

Itwaswewhostoodfirmagainsttheattacksofinternationalterrorismandsavedthecountryfromtheveryrealthreatofcollapse.

TogetherwehavemadeourMotherlandacountrythatisopentotheworld,acountrythatseeksbroadandequalcooperation,acountrythathasstrengtheneditspositionsontheinternationalstageandhaslearnedhowtousepeacefulmeanstostandupforitslawfulinterestsinarapidlychangingworld.

Themainobjectiveofthecomingfouryearsisnowtotransformthepotentialwehavebuiltupintoanewdevelopmentenergyandtouseittobringaboutafundamentallynewqualityoflifeforourpeopleandareal,tangibleincreaseintheirprosperity.

ItisoftensaidherethattheheadofstateinRussiaanswersandwillalwaysanswerforeverything.Thisisstillthecase.Buttoday,althoughIhaveadeepawarenessofmyownpersonalresponsibility,IneverthelesswanttoemphasizethatRussia’ssuccessandprosperitycannotandshouldnotdependononesinglepersonoronepoliticalparty,orpoliticalforcealone.Weneedabroadbasefordevelopingdemocracyinourcountryandforcontinuingthetransformationswehavebegun.

Itismyconvictionthatamaturecivilsocietyisthebestguaranteethatthisdevelopmentwillcontinue.

Onlyfreepeopleinafreecountrycanbegenuinelysuccessful.ThisisthefoundationforbotheconomicgrowthandpoliticalstabilityinRussia.

Wewilldoallwecantoensurethateveryoneherecanrealizetheirtalentsandabilities,toensurethatagenuinelymultipartysystemdevelopsandthatpersonalfreedomsare

strengthened.WewillmakeeveryefforttoensurethatallpeopleinRussiahaveaccesstogoodeducationandsocialandmedicalassistance,andthatallpeoplehavelivesfreefromwantandareabletopassonthefruitsoftheirownlabortotheirchildren.And,ofcourse,thattheycouldbeproudoftheirh2butpeace-lovingcountryanditsauthority.Dearfriends,

Westillhavemuch,verymuch,todo–forourcountry,forourselvesandforourchildren.Wehavealltheopportunitiesweneedtoachievethegoalswehaveset.Wehavetheresources,wehaveourexperienceandwehavecompleteunderstandingofourdevelopmentprioritieswhichhavebeentriedandtestedbythepositivepractical

experienceofthelastfouryears.Wehaveenormouscreativeenergyandapeoplewithgreatintellectualpotential.

WeallaretheinheritorsofRussiaanditsthousandyearsofhistory,theinheritorsofthislandthathasgivenbirthtoexceptionalsonsanddaughters,workers,warriors,andcreators.Theyhavepasseddowntousthishuge,greatstate.

Thereisnodoubtthatwecandrawstrengthfromourpast.Buteventhemostglorioushistoryisnotenoughtoensureusabetterlife.Today’sgenerationsofRussiansmustreinforcethisgrandeurthroughtheirownacts.

Onlythenwillourdescendentsbeabletofeelprideinthesepagesthatwearewritinginthehistoryofourgreatnation.Thankyouforyourattention.
