北京是一个古老美丽的城市。打它建城到现在已经有3000多年的历史了，辽金元明清五朝均在此建都。这里有闻名世界的颐和园、圆明园、紫禁城、北海、天坛，名胜古迹真是好多呀！春天我们可以到玉渊潭看樱花，夏天到胡同看民居，秋天到香山看枫叶，冬天到时刹海去溜冰。
北京也是一个现代时尚的城市。2008奥运年，北京出现了很多新地标式的建筑，象鸟巢、水立方、玲珑塔，它们的造型奇特多姿，运用了尖端科技成果，体现了“科技奥运”的精神。现在的交通很发达，汽车、自行车、地铁、轻轨各式各样的交通工具使得人们的出行选择越来越多。不过，车流量太大了，交通常常堵塞，所以我们通过限行来减轻交通压力。北京的互联网更加发达了，百度、SOGO、QQ、搜狐、雅虎帮助我们更快地了解外面的世界，通过了它们大家可以聊天、购物、玩游戏，看视频，最主要的是电脑可以帮助人们有效率地工作。
生活在北京我感到很幸福。因为这里有那么多让我喜欢的地方，我和家人就可以到处走走，逛逛大栅栏、老胡同，奥林匹克公园。我们还是能四处的品尝传统小吃，象烤鸭、涮羊肉、麻豆腐、宫廷小馒头、面茶、烧卖等等，实在太多了。我们在公园放风筝、抖空竹、“抽汉奸”、听合唱、看扭秧歌。北京真是一个有着浓郁文化气息的城市啊！
